Three of Tool's albums sold another million copies apiece in the United States and were certified as such just last week by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Those include their 1992 debut album, Undertow, their 2001 release, Lateralus, and 2006's 10,000 Days.
Undertow and Lateralus went from being 2x multi-platinum to 3x multi-platinum, while 10,000 Days achieved double platinum certification for the first time this month.
The boost in certification is likely due to the fact that Tool's music is now available on streaming services. Prior to the band's August 2019 release of Fear Inoculum, their back catalog was unavailable to be streamed.
