Daft Punk announced their retirement in an eight-minute-long video titled “Epilogue” Monday (February 22nd).
In the clip, the duo – Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo – wander around the desert in their usual space helmets and leather jackets before one walks away and explodes.
The French electronic music duo formed in 1993 and assumed their helmet-wearing robot personas in 1999.
Daft Punk won their first Grammy in 2009 and gained their first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Starboy,” a collaboration with the Weeknd.
