The Grateful Dead Releases Classic 1978 Show

Just released is the latest Grateful Dead live archival set as part of the ongoing “Dave's Picks” series. Dave’s Picks Volume 37: College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, VA 4/15/78 also features a bonus disc of highlights from the band's April 18th, 1978 stop a few nights later at Pittsburgh's Civic Arena.

Among the highlights on the set are such classics and rarities as “Let It Grow,” “Deal,” “Scarlet Begonias,” “Lazy Lightning,” “Supplication,” “Brown Eyed Women,” and “Terrapin Station,” among many more.

The Dead's surviving members — Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, and Mickey Hart — remain committed to releasing multiple archival shows each year, both through their record label and on their own. Bob Weir told us that the Dead archives are an imposing and impressive place: “I've been in the vault a few times. I knew what was in there. I've known what was in there. It's not so much an awakening, as it's a challenge to get it all digitized and stored. The storage is gonna be the biggest challenge of all of it. The archiving is no problem.”
