The Rolling Stones' first decade will be the subject of a limited TV series for FX. The still-unnamed official series will be produced by the same team behind the hit show chronicling Britain's royal family, The Crown. The series, which has been ordered for two seasons, is the first time the band has allowed their music to be used for such a production, and will be written by High Fidelity author Nick Hornby.
According to Deadline, “The high-end series will focus on the band’s glory years between its formation through to 1972, which includes a fantastic run of hit albums such as Their Satanic Majesties Request, Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, and Exile On Main Street.” No premiere date has been announced.
Although today the Stones' long hair, early fashion sense and aesthetic has come to be considered among the highlights of the “Swinging London” era, Keith Richards told us that it took the world a while to catch on — especially in the American South during the band's initial tours back in the mid-'60s: “That was in the Carolinas — I'm not sure if it's North or South — but somebody drove by the motel; a little old lady, or a couple and reported topless women cavorting around (laughs) the swimming pool, which was us, of course. But they'd never seen hair like that before. They saw it from like a quarter of a mile away from the highway. So two black and whites come screeching up to the swimming pool: 'OK where are those chicks without their bras on?!' 'Oh, you mean me, officer?'”
