SAM SMITH ANNOUNCES NEW SONG, ‘MY OASIS’: Sam Smith announced that they’ll be releasing a track called “My Oasis,” featuring Nigerian singer-songwriter Burna Boy. Sam posted a video tease for the song, featuring relaxing water imagery and a snippet of the tune’s beginning notes. “My Oasis,” which follows Sam’s Demi Lovato collab “I’m Ready,” drops at 2:20 p.m. ET today. Sam’s next album was originally scheduled to come out in May, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Its title is also being changed, from To Die For to something more appropriate, he said. No word yet on a new album release date.
MELANIE C TEASES NEW SELF-TITLED ALBUM, RELEASES NEW SINGLE: Melanie C, aka Sporty Spice, has teased a new self-titled album and dropped new single titled “In and Out of Love.” The former Spice Girl said on Instagram that the new album, Melanie C, will drop on October 2nd. In another post, she announced the release of the “In and Out of Love” single from the album. The song’s release follows a couple other singles released from the album earlier this year. She dropped the single, “Who I Am,” in March and dropped “Blame it on Me,” earlier this month. The new album is available for pre-order on the singer’s website. Bundle packages are also available.
BLACKPINK TO RELEASE FIRST FULL-LENGTH ALBUM IN OCTOBER: Blackpink will release their first full-length album in October. The K-pop stars shared a teaser poster and release date, October 2nd, for the album, titled The Album. The poster features the album’s title, release date and an image of a pink crown with a sparkling center jewel. The Album features the single “How You Like That,” which Blackpink released a music video for in June. The group will unveil a second single with a surprise featured guest next month. Blackpink became the highest-charting K-pop group on Spotify’s main chart in June following the release of “How You Like That.”
