According to numerous online postings, the full tracklisting to the “Super Deluxe” archival box set of Paul McCartney's hit 1997 Flaming Pie has been leaked. Although no official announcement has been made, inside sources are telling us the Flaming Pie set will be released on either July 24th or the 31st, featuring a whopping five CD's and two DVD's of content.
In addition to the remastered album, the set — which will be released in numerous configurations — includes home demos of the entire album, session outtakes, a radio show produced for the album, along with various TV appearances to promote the set. The box will also include the assorted Oobu-Joobu radio special B-sides that accompanied the album's singles — along with the behind-the-scenes Flaming Pie doc, In The World Tonight. An official announcement for the set is due this week.
Paul McCartney recalled that he tried to create a low pressure, organic feel for the Flaming Pie recording sessions: “The atmosphere in the studio, kind of, communicates itself to the listener. Which I, I didn't really think was true, y'know — but I believe it after this album. I've sometimes, just been doin' a vocal for, like, ever and ever — just tryin' to get every little note right. But, I've been so uptight doin' that, that when you hear the finished thing, you think, 'Oh, it's, it's good. It's technically good — but it doesn't grab me. There's something. . . He's not having a good time, or something.' I really do believe now that that communicates itself, that little special thing.”
