BTS SUPPORTS BLACK LIVES MATTER, SHARES JUNGKOOK’S ‘STILL WITH YOU’: BTS shared a message of solidarity Wednesday following George Floyd’s death and the Black Lives Matter protests. “We stand against racial discrimination. We condemn violence. You, I and we all have the right to be respected. We will stand together. #BlackLivesMattter,” BTS tweeted. This week, many K-pop fans co-opted the #WhiteLivesMatter hashtag by using the hashtag alongside photos and videos of their favorite singers. By doing so, fans hoped to drown out racist or offensive posts. On Thursday, BTS released “Still with You,” a new solo song from Jungkook, as part of its BTS Festa celebrations. BTS Festa celebrates the seventh anniversary of the group’s debut single album, 2 Cool 4 Skool.
KYGO DONATES $20,000 TO BLACK LIVES MATTER: Norwegian DJ/producer Kygo says he educated himself about social injustice and police brutality in America – and he is now donating money to support the cause. “I’ve been spending the last couple of days educating myself on the situation going on in the US (and rest of the world) and how to best help,” he writes on Instagram. “I’ve never experienced racism myself so I haven’t really been sure what to say, but I’ve understood that saying nothing definitely won’t help.” He asks “everyone who has experienced racism” to “please keep telling your stories,” adding that he’s going to continue “signing petitions,” adding, “I’ve also decided to donate to BLM.” The post includes a screenshot of a receipt for a $20,000 donation to Black Lives Matter Global Network.
