Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande dance the pain away in the new music video for their new collab, “Rain on Me.”
The clip begins with a shot of Lady Gaga lying on the floor with a knife stab wound in her thigh. She’s wearing a pink bodysuit and high heeled combat boots while it rains in the video, but the showers alternate between raindrops and knives plummeting from the sky.
Grande makes an appearance about a minute into the video, donning her signature high ponytail (which she lets down later on in the video), and has a dance troupe behind her. Grande and Gaga end up joining hands and dance together.
“Rain on Me” is about pushing through the pain. Gaga told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe that it’s a “metaphor for tears and for the amount of alcohol I was taking to numb myself.”
The song will appear on Gaga’s upcoming album, Chromatica, due out Friday. The clip dropped just hours after the song debuted, following a string of adoring tweets from the women, who both gushed about how lucky they felt to work together.
“Rain On Me” follows Gaga’s February release of “Stupid Love.”
