After Forbes announced that Kanye West was a billionaire — estimating his worth at $1.3 million, the hip-hop icon actually texted the magazine and told them that their figures were wrong. According to Too Fab, Ye texted journalist Zack O' Malley Greenburg at Forbes, saying, “It’s not a billion. It’s $3.3 billion since no one at Forbes knows how to count.”
Forbes announced the news on Friday (April 24th) after “months of requests” for the rapper's financial records.
O'Malley Greenburg said, “Without sufficient documentation on his unusual stake, versus just his word and industry guesstimates, we didn’t call him a billionaire.” At the time, Forbest said that Kanye said that “he’s not a numbers guy,” but the magazine explained how he publicly called them out for not giving him the title. And after the magazine revealed their annual billionaire’s list earlier this month, Kanye texted them ,”You know what you’re doing. You’re toying with me and I’m not finna lye sic down and take it anymore in Jesus name.”
