The Pretenders have announced the May 1st release of its 11th studio set, Hate For Sale. The album, which marks the band's first since the 2016 Alone album, features the studio debut of the band's current touring ensemble — leader Chrissie Hynde, original drummer Martin Chambers, longtime guitarist James Walbourne, and bassist Nick Wilkinson. The band has uploaded the album's lead single, “The Buzz” to online outlets.
When we last caught up with Chrissie Hynde, she told us told us that she judges her current Pretenders bandmates on their own merits — not against the group's history: “I've been working with this lineup for 15 years, so that's quite a long time. I don't compare any of the bands. The only band that I compare it to was the original band — we didn't last very long — because that's always the musical style of the Pretenders. The general mood of the band has remained the same.”
The Pretenders kick off a 60-city spring and summer joint tour with Journey on May 15th in Ridgefield, Washington at Sunlight Supply Amphitheater.
