Neil Young was among the artists last night (March 16th) who took part in an online rally for Bernie Sanders. The performance, shot by wife and actress, Daryl Hannah, featured Young by his fireside performing his 1972 chart-topper, “Heart Of Gold.”
Young also posted an update on his official NeilYoungArchives.com site that he will continue streaming online performances shot by Hannah. Young wrote, in part, “Because we are all at home and not venturing out, we will try to do a stream from my fireplace with my lovely wife filming. It will be a down-home production, a few songs, a little time together. We will soon be announcing the first one right here at NYA in the Times-Contrarian and on the Hearse Theater schedule, as well as social media except Facebook. As we have previously announced, we are dropping Facebook very, very soon, so if you rely on FB to contact us, prepare for a change.”
Neil Young says that the feels that through his songs he's completely free to voice his opinions and observations regarding the state of the world: “I find the things I'm thinking of and singing of, they're the things that matter to me. Not that in the past it wasn't like that; now, that I've gotten older, the things that matter to me are more focused. Things where I feel I can use my power and my skills as an artist, and as a crafter of records, or whatever. That I could say things and people might hear them that they normally wouldn't hear.”
