The Lumineers kicked off a new tour on Friday (January 31st) in Asheville, North Carolina, in support of their latest album III. Lead singer and guitarist Wesley Schultz told Billboard that the band is going out with a whole different production than before.
Schultz said that the stage may be the biggest the band has used to date: “For the touring we've done, this is by far the biggest, you know, stage set-up we've had and I'm very excited for it. I think it'll kind of tell the story of this album and have the live show move around a lot.”
The new show features a catwalk that stretches out into the audience as well as a pit in which fans are surrounded by the band on all sides. The extensive North American trek, which currently runs through mid-September, is the group's second arena tour. They started headlining amphitheaters after the breakthrough success of their Grammy-nominated debut album and the hit “Ho Hey.”
