- Neil Young finally became a U.S. citizen. The Canadian singer-songwriter had originally hoped to officially obtain dual citizen status back on his birthday last November 12th, but “his moral character was being called into question.” Young posted at the time on his website (NeilYoungArchives.com): “The problem is defined in an April 19, 2019 addition under Attorney General (Jeff) Sessions. USCIS issued a Policy Alert which includes: 'An applicant who is involved in certain marijuana-related activities may lack GMC (Good Moral Character) if found to have violated federal law even if such activity is not unlawful under applicable state or foreign laws.”
- Young hipped fans to the change in his citizen status on his website posing next to an American flag and a table with a sign, reading “Democrats Register To Vote Here” with a message stating: “I'm happy to report I'm in!!” — followed by the phrase “Vote your conscience” bookended by both the Canadian and U.S. flags.
